We have the pleasure of spotlighting a very upbeat, high-energy person this month. Her name is Araseli “Shelly” Molina.
Shelly is a second shift line leader at our Arlington, Texas facility. Second shifts can be challenging for some people to work late at night, but Shelly embraces it. She needs to get her kids ready in the morning and take her daughter to school, so starting work later in the day gives her a chance to be present for her kids.
It also means that sleep comes in short supply, but she approaches her life with such a positive outlook that it’s infectious.
As a second shift line leader, Shelly works from 4:00PM – 12:30AM. As a result, there are not as many people on-site during those hours, and she is often one of the most senior people at the facility. This means she must handle situations on her own and be a flexible problem solver. She is very good at doing that and making sure that her team is working well together. As a supervisor, Shelly is good at balancing how she trains her team and sets expectations for their performance, while holding them accountable, and still making it a fun environment. She does this by being a good communicator and talking through small issues before they become big ones.
Shelly has worked at PRO-TECH Design for approximately six years. She is continually asking – “What’s next?”, since she likes to challenge herself and to continually learn and grow. She has a very “can-do” attitude, which affects her team. When they see the effort and precision that she puts into her work, they work harder to do the same. The company recognizes and appreciates Shelly’s flexibility and willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done in a business that needs to respond quickly to meet customers’ needs.
Something that impresses you when you talk to Shelly is that she really likes people. She enjoys working with all different types of people, she enjoys teaching and learning from them, and generally, she gets energized by her interactions. Related to this – one of the things that she enjoys most about PRO-TECH is how they treat their people. She has worked at other places, but what stands out about PRO-TECH is that they want to help you and work with you to succeed. For example, the company changed her work schedule to accommodate her need to get her kids to school. They really try to understand you as a person and to treat you well, and she does the same for her team.
Shelly also appreciates that the work she and her team do helps people. The medical devices they assemble and package have a positive impact on patient’s lives. She is quick to remind her team of the importance of the work that they do and how it can help the lives of mothers, fathers, daughters, or sons of real people.
She likes working in production. There are clear problems to be solved and there is a measurable output after a day of work. She also appreciates that she gets to work with a team and sees what they can accomplish together.
Outside of work, Shelly enjoys cooking. One of her specialties is barbacoa – you will have to ask her what makes it so good. She also enjoys spending time with her family. She has five kids, which keeps her busy and fulfilled. She also likes to learn, and at some point, when her youngest gets a little older, she has thought about going back to school, where we know she will be successful at whatever she chooses to study.
Shelly, thank you for your leadership and the positive attitude you bring to work every day! We appreciate all the care and purpose that you put into your job and your authenticity in dealing with people and supporting our customers and their patients!
